Here are some tips we’ve put together to help you care for your shoes.

QUALITY, QUALITY, QUALITY

         – Like anything else you purchase, focusing on quality when you’re buying a new pair of shoes will pay off in the long run. Well-constructed shoes can handle much more wear and tear than a cheap pair, and you won’t have to keep replacing them so often. The materials used matter, too. Choose shoes made of natural materials like leather or suede.

      1. CONDITION – This step is meant to help soften and moisturise the leather so that, later on, the leather is less prone to drying out and cracking. You’ll want to look for a natural conditioner, which is absorbed directly into the material of the shoe, as opposed to a synthetic conditioner, which sits on the surface.

DON'T USE THE WASHING MACHINE

         – For canvas shoes especially, it’s easy to toss them in the washer and dryer for a quick cleaning, but that will just wear them out faster. Scrub the shoes by hand instead, and do it immediately so the dirt doesn’t start to accumulate to a point of no return.

USE SHOE TREES

         – Help to keep your shoes in fine form with our luxurious and beautifully scented Shoe Trees made from Cedarwood. Featuring a quality spiral spring. After wearing, place the shoe trees in your shoes while the shoes are warm and they will reshape the toes. Suitable for all women’s shoes.

SPRAY A WATER REPELLENT

         – Whether you live in a place prone to inclement winter weather or not, there’s no real reason not to ‘weatherproof’ your shoes. Look for protectant sprays (or beeswax-based products, if you don’t like sprays) that aren’t oil-based. That way, there’s a lower chance of leather discolouration. Repair before it’s too late. When it comes to finding a cobbler, take as much care seeking a great one as you would a tailor. If there’s something really wrong your shoe (like the heel’s coming off), don’t wait until the last possible moment to seek a solution. Go to the cobbler before there’s permanent damage.

STORE IN A SAFE PLACE

         – Damage to your shoes isn’t always done while they’re on your feet. Where you’re storing them after you take them off can contribute to their deterioration, so it’s important to find just the right spot. Storing shoes in correctly can cause scratching, fading and other damage. Make sure you keep your shoes away from sun light. We advise using
Shoe Boxes
      to neatly store your shoes.
